They always have something just for the kid. The kid on the block, the kid at school, the new kid, how about a kid audition? You may not even realize that if you are a kid, there is an audition for you, and probably for all of your friends too. An audition is a chance for you to get an acting job on your own merit, by being the best kid in the room, the best actor, dancer, or singer.

This is probably not the first time you have read something about the concept of the audition. If you're reading this you're probably a kid who has dreamt of acting and wants to know how to get into the business. Maybe you're a parent that wants to get your kid to audition for something to give them a true taste of what it means to pursue a career in acting. Whatever the case, there are some basics to keep in mind.

Listen, kid, if you want to audition, first of all, be prepared to be embarrassed, and be prepared to be rejected. You aren't the first kid to want to audition, and you have to keep in mind that even the best sometimes aren't chosen. With that in mind, mom and dad, please prepare your kid for the cut-throat world of entertainment. Teach them to reach for the stars but let them know that there are many horse droppings along the road of life, and in acting, many of those droppings will be encountered at the audition, whether they are a kid or a grown-up.
